typical…

i have a million and one ideas for blog posts and Alex phones me and asks me to go with him shopping for some new gloves for his jiu jitsu training and some other bits and bobs. Regardless i’m happy to be seeing him today. I advised him he should make a blog about his progress, in his training proggrame and body building and exercise routine and diet and things. i think it would be a great idea both to help him track his progress and to also inspire and help others who are trying to put on weight and body build on an ammature scale as well as for others who are training in martial arts. He wasnt keen on the ideas though,he said he would get imbarrased.bless him!

Rosa Clara wedding gowns

okay so another look at another designer and thier bridal gowns, i think thgis time though the designer is spanish, but dont quote me on that. theres quite a lot of variety in these gowns, some full massive skirts, some slinky biased cuts, some with plenty of lace that channel grace kelly’s gown, all sorts! Karl largerfeld also did a collaberative collection with Rosa Clara so some of the images of those gowns are below.

my favourites are the dresses within the “soft” collection witch are the ones in the photos where there is both a white and peach coloured gown. grecian and lightweight fabrics and i really had to refrain from posting every single design from that collection. oops.hope you like them as much as i do.

David Fielden gowns

So on my search for grecian style wedding gowns i came across the designer David Fielden and fell in love with his gowns. He is another London designer just like JP but has stockists of his dresses and designs all over the world. There is a video online on his website of one of his latest catwalk shows displaying his new collection, featuring pyrotechnics and a creepy light show and set up. probs like rubble on the ground to make it look like some kind of inudustrial or derilict building almost. Theyve even got fog machine things, It almost reminds me of a cave, or alice in wonderland. Not sure why.

the video of the sposa 2012 bridal collection can be seen here:

I love the way the models are holding those beautiful little mini suitcases and bags though, i thaught that was a nice touch.

and the dresses:

i just discovered Fieldens non-bridal dresses and they are so colourful they are so pretty they look good enough to eat! this is a few dresses from the london spring/summer 2012 collection:

free people destroyer boots

no way related to weddings but even still. on free people i have found these boots that are just to die for. not so keen on the price tag though, the most i have ever spent on a pair of shoes or boots is £50. and these boots are £211.52. so quite steep in my opinion.although they are leather. but just look at them, they’re absolute beauties!

all images from the product page at:

i love the redish brown colour to bits, i think these are so fabulous. if only i could bring myself to be able to afford to buy them. All the reviews say how great these boots are and they are so tempting.

oh, and free people also do flower hair wreaths and floral headbands ideal for summer weddings, bringing it back on topic.

Fairy Goth Mother

Not everyones cup of tea and not all of thier items can be worn on your wedding day, but i think the corsets, skirts and gowns on this site are to die for! I consider it to be the home of alternative corsets and gowns, it is a personal favourite of mine. They do have a wedding and bridal section on thier website but in my opinion many could get away with many of the other gowns.i like the idea of having seperates, a skirt and corset, mixing and matching to create your ideal look, just the way you want it. There’s all sorts, corsets with straps, underbust, skirts, gowns, lingerie, you name it. can be worn for other events and stuff rather than weddings but even still, thaught i would share this website and it’s lovely items.

Red velvet as a wedding cake

So these cakes are very pretty indeed, I’ve never tried one myself unfortunately but think they look wonderful. Alledgedly it is a chocolate cake, strange. I think i should find one of these to eat one day soon or make my own, i have vague recollections of a cupcake stall in the pallasades in birmingham that had a red velvet one and they are relatively cheap, so i might try one of those. Anyway, i found a recipe for the cake here for any of you out there that like to get creative in the kitchen or are simply domestic godesses:

http://smittenkitchen.com/2007/09/red-velvet-cake/

and another here:

http://www.joyofbaking.com/RedVelvetCake.html

and another here:

http://www.mccormick.com/Recipes/Desserts/Red-Velvet-Cake-with-Vanilla-Cream-Cheese-Frosting.aspx

now i havent tried or tested or vetted these recipes myself yet so i do not know if they are any good. There are plenty of cupcake recipes out there too, as a cute alternative that makes for a great place setting idea, personalised with a icing letter on the top or something?

i also found cookie looking things and delicious looking things called whoopie pies, which i have never heared of before.I think they just might be the subject of my next post.

Anyway- back on topic, for brides having a dessert table with multiple cakes and cookies and muffins and all that kind of thing i think this cake would be ideal. Very dramatic and very impressive looking.the cupcakes do too actually, and dare i say they’d be easier to make yourself than the larger version?

Tattooed bride appreciation post

Some might think that tattooes spoil and ruin the look of an elegant bride in white. Taint the sophistication and innocence that a bride should have on thier wedding day? degrade them in some way and make them look somewhat inferior to a bride with no tatooes? I don’t know why people would have this ideology, but i guess it’s old fashioned values. I personally think that tattooes brides are something to celebrate because lets face it, tatooes are a way of expression, it is art, it is freedom and it is about being individual. If someone is attending the wedding of a tattooed bride, then the chances are they know that bride well enough to know about thier tattoos, none the less they are celebrating with them and rejoicing in thier big day. So for those that dissaprove of tattoes on brides and think it makes them less pretty or beautiful, i must say it confuses and baffles me as to why they thing this. in my opinion people should embrace and respect thier loved ones’ descision to modify thier body, especially during an occasion as important as thier wedding day.

If anything i think tattoos add character to a wedding look, so here are some photos of tattooed brides rocking thier bridal looks.

what i’m listening to right now:

in no way wedding related, but. Lateralus- by the one and only- Tool

a cracking album that i highly recommend.I bough it off ebay and have listened to it countless times since.Very catchey and makes for fairly easy listening. AMAZING art work by Alex Grey as always (i must make a post about him someday) and of course if Maynard James Kennan is involved  it’s bound to be amazing 🙂

lilly buds bouquets at etsy.com

alright alright so this post is almost the same as my last, but i found yet another seller of devine brooch bouquets and thaught id share. This time its lilly buds bouquets and not only does this lady sell jewelry and brooch bouquets but also button ones. This seller has more currently to buy so more variety and more to chose from, you can find her store here:

http://www.etsy.com/shop/LillybudsBouquets?ref=seller_info

so for any bride to be out there want an individual bouquet and arent very flowery, or just for a bit of eye candy for the rest of us here are some pics of a few of her bouquets:

baubles and brides at etsy.com

so, the next post i was preparing to make was one about button bouquets. However, when gathering pictures for this i stumbled upon said ladies etsy store and was compelled to make a post dedicated to her. Her name is Nancy Hendrix and she lives in california. She makes bouquets from jewels and brooches and they are simply wonderful! bouquets made from those materials usually look tacky in my opinion so i am usualy skeptical. but these are fantastic.Don’t get me wrong, the price tag is all a bit hair raising, for what is essentially costume jewellery, but they are so fascinating to look at and each one she sells has something different about it that i like. all the little details keep you occupied for ages just looking at them.

http://www.etsy.com/shop/baublesandbrides?ref=seller_info

of course they are all one off one of a kind pieces so once one is sold i am guessing she will remove it from the pag and add a different one. This lovely lady also does custom orders and can work with you to create a bespoke and individual design. here are a few photos of the bouquets she is currently selling:
